BBC Two announces that shooting has begun on series two of detective comedy Vexed, starring Toby Stephens (Jane Eyre, Robin Hood, Cambridge Spies) who reprises his role as D.I. Jack Armstrong, paired with Miranda Raison (Spooks, Merlin, Married Single Other) who plays newly promoted D.I. Georgina Dixon.                                                                    　　Vexed is being filmed in Dublin, Eire, and comprises six 60-minute episodes to air later this year. The series is created by Howard Overman (Misfits) with episodes written by Chris Bucknall, James Wood, Steve Coombes and Harry & Jack Williams.                                                                    　　Also returning from series one are Roger Griffiths (Holby City, Chef) and Ronny Jhutti (Survivors, Ideal) with Nick Dunning (The Iron Lady, The Tudors) joining to play Georgina’s father.                                                                    　　D.I. Jack Armstrong (Stephens) has a new partner in the shape of D.I. Georgina Dixon (Raison). Armstrong is charming, disorganised and prone to laziness so it comes as no surprise that sparks fly when he’s partnered with the ambitious and highly efficient Dixon. Jack’s best friend, café-owner and ex-cop Tony (Griffiths) and colleague Naz (Jhutti) complete the crime solving team. Episode one sees the duo tackle the murder of a cocky car salesman, but things are not quite as they seem.                                                                    　　Chris Sussman, Executive Producer for the BBC, says: "We’re very much looking forward to the return of Vexed. 　　The first of a new experimental series in which Stephen Fry will be played by Hugh Laurie and Hugh Laurie will be played by Stephen Fry. 　　When Timothy is called into his father’s study for a word, it is revealed to him that he is the chosen one and he must set out to kill Pewnack the Destroyer, the Dark One, the Beast - who lives in Saffron Walden. Tuppy Glossop arrives to sell his family recipe for cock-a-leekie to soup magnate Slingsby to finance his nuptials to Elizabeth but slimy ad man Lucius Pim steals Gwladys from Bertie and makes Aunt Agatha the unwitting face of Slingsby’s soups on every billboard in New York.

Hannah has also brought Peter, a freed slave from the former plantation, to work in the garden whilst Robert is now an MP and younger brother William, the father of Susannah’s eldest child, is in charge of the mill. Esther threatens to tell Hannah of her son’s indiscretion unless he recognizes when her indentures end and loans her money for sister Martha, still unemployed. She is successful but wages are cut, William attempting to blame the fact on the Corn Laws. However Daniel knows that William intends to spend the money saved on more machinery. John Howlett fails to see this and refuses to countenance Daniel’s proposal that they espouse the union though Peter is more sympathetic.
